Hrisikesh

	In Hrisikesh, 356 m above the sea level, Ganges is leaving Himalayas and flows into India's lowlands. Hrisikesh is known as very peaceful place.
	Hrisikesh has very good conditions for yoga studies and meditation. Therefore one can find many ashrams there.
	Triveni-ghat is the main ghat in Hrisikesh. The underground confluence of Yamuna Sarasvati is said to be there.
	Deity of Lord Shiva is every day placed on the table to river's shallow and worshipped by kirtan.

	Laksman-yula is 3 km up from the Hrisikesh center. Laksmana, Lord Rama's brother, is said to perform penances here. Rama and Laksmana also took sacred bath here to neutralize sin committed by killing demon Ravana, who was a brahmana.

	It is about 250 km from Hrisikesh and Haridwar to Gangotri and Gomukh.

	Local sadhu. There are many small temples in Sapta-rishi ashram. Ganges is said to divide here into seven branches to please seven rishis meditating in this area.
