After a day in Kuala Lumpur, Srila Maharaja and his party left for the nearby island of Penang, and they arrived at about 9.30 am, at the beach-side home of Dr. Paramesvari dasa Adhikari and his wife Malati-devi.
When Dr Paramesvari dasa thanked him for coming to their home, he replied, “You and your family’s love attracts me, and then I come.”
Each day, Srila Narayana Maharaja is concentrating on his translations of the original verses of the 11th Canto Srimad-Bhagavatam, but he also finds the time to meet with devotees and perform phone initiations for the many devotees in other countries who do not know when they will have the opportunity to meet him in person.
On April 7th he gave harinama and/or diksa initiation to sixteen devotees in Manila, Philipines, and on April 10th to eight more in Cebu. He also gave initiation over the phone to sixteen devotees on the island of Bacolod, and also to several devotees in Bali.
On the phone to the Manila devotees, Srila Narayana Maharaja explained the beauty, power and glory of the maha-mantra. He told his new sons and daughters not to eat fish or meat, or to drink wine. He instructed them to always chant Hare Krsna and to read his books.
On the day of the phone initiation of the Manila devotees, Srila Maharaja received and was happy to see this photo of new initiates.
Srila Maharaja will be staying in Penang until the 16th of April. He gave one public class at the local Maha Mantra Temple on the 13th. There he discussed the history of Pariksit Maharaja’s hearing Srimad-Bhagavatam from Srila Sukadeva Gosvami. He also related the history of Sri Prahlada Maharaja and Lord Nrsmhadeva, and when he reached the part in the story in which Prahlada inspired his fellow classmates to chant the Lord’s holy names, he himself loudly and sweetly led the audience in singing the holy names.
In addition to the over 100 guests present in Penang, www.purebhakti.tv had arranged that devotees from all over the world could hear Srila Maharaja’s class, simply by logging on to that website.
On the next morning, April 14, Srila Narayana Maharaja gave initiation to 10 aspiring devotees in Penang, and a few hours earlier he gave a phone initiation to 4 more in Manila. Over the phone he told his new sons that the chanting can be done at any time of the day and night, while sitting or walking. He explained the deep meaning of the three names in the mantra, Hara, Krsna, and Rama.
Srila Maharaja will be giving public programs in Kuala Lumpur on April 17th and 18th, beginning 5pm Malaysia time.
